I started reading this issue thinking that we would finally get to know a bit about this mysterious woman, but I was actually pleased that I was wrong.

While we do learn a little about Tink, for most of the issue we see her guildmates comparing notes on what little she has told each of them about her life. She has told each of her friends a different story, and all of them are hilarious.

The story was simply perfect. Part of why viewers like Tink is that we know so little about her, and sometimes it is nice to guess. The little stories that she gave each of her guild mates about her life were very well written. Each story was tailored to fit the person to whom she was talking, and that was a nice touch. That way, each person truly believed her, as it sounded plausible to them. She has learned enough about each of them to know exactly what kind of story would appeal to them.

Not only is this story very true to all of the series characters, but also to gaming in general. I am fortunate that I play mostly with real-life friends, but I know people who have had bad experiences and been lied to by other players whom they trusted. While I think that perhaps Tink has gone a bit overboard in her desire to keep everything private, I can certainly understand the mentality that would lead to her paranoia. It is nice when guildmates become close friends, but it is wise to be careful when first getting to know other players.

Another positive aspect of this issue is that we are seeing three different worlds. We are seeing inside the game, which is nice as the comic is really the only way show fans get to see inside that world. Also, we are seeing real life, as little parts of Tink’s real day are spliced into the story. Lastly, we get to see the fantasy world she has created for each of her stories. I especially liked the visual representation of the story Tink told Vork about her life as a special forces operative.

Once again, Felicia Day has brought fans a great comic about these wonderful characters. Unfortunately, we have to wait until June for the next installment, which will focus on Bladezz. From the teaser in the back of this issue, it looks like we’ll be learning more about his modeling career and his alter ego, Finn Smulders. Now, if readers and fans can just convince Felicia and Dark Horse Comics to turn this into a monthly series, that would be wonderful.
