This book is one of those that at first glance you’ll think is just a typical Star Wars parody which initially was I thought I was getting into. Then when I saw the first pages I was surprised to see just how it actually went. It’s a different take that I ever imagined. It’s a take that involves no droids, no spaceships, no light sabers, and no holographic Princess Leia. The Droids in this are the Druids Hal and Ravi being captured with the Lady Lacia by the evil Lord Salvatore and the power of IT! What is IT? IT is the Force of this Story. Make note every time I type out IT I feel like I’m hyping a b-movie instead of a fun parody comic of Star Wars. I digress though. Let’s start off our adventure with Space Warped #1!

The people that work on this book might not be immediately familiar to you but could be people you might want to look out for. The writing by Hervé Bourhis is a lot of fun to read for his reworking of the characters is clever. When you get Jean-Luc Groundwalker  and Ravi having eaten the message sent by Lady Lacia and only to be seen by the old Bernie slash Bernard and it definitely takes the parody to a whole new level. I love that Ravi sings everything and also occasionally speaks in random symbols. You can probably guess who’s who just from the way I state things. Especially Ravi. It’s got this style that’s different but I like it. Rudy Spiessert’s style works for this story. The way he plays around with the characters is perfect for this book. It’s definitely a style that’s not seen often but I like it. It has this great madcap atmosphere and this makes it different from the average Star Wars parody.

I also enjoy Lord Salvatore. The way he uses his IT powers are hilarious. The introduction to the Jadis Knights is a cool twist on the parody. Oh and I couldn’t help but smile at Jean-Luc getting the “light saber” of the book and just flailing it around making  noises. Oddly enough one of the more creative versions of this parody I’ve witnessed in recent history in how the world works. Just wait till you meet Al Alone and Boogie. They’re going to be a lot of fun to watch as this story develops. I also love the entire Cantina sequence. A neat twist on that part of the movie.

This is definitely something that you can find yourself truly getting into. I find the book charming in the fact that it is genuinely a lot of fun. That and in this world so far there’s no futuristic technology at all. It’s just this medieval world with Wagons and Swords. It’s definitely something that I can easily recommend especially for someone looking for something different. It’s a nice start to the new kaboom! line. I’m wishing there were more than two issues to this series to be honest with you since I’d love an ongoing but alas I’ll take what I can get and hope for more in the future. Check this out for it’s a lot of fun and it definitely has a great appeal for young and old.
